Our Team
At Griffin Fire Department, our strength lies in the people and equipment that serve our community every day. From elected commissioners and dedicated administrative staff to the career and volunteer firefighters on the front lines, each person plays a vital role in our mission. Our team also includes the fleet of specialized fire apparatus that supports our emergency response capabilities across the Steamboat Island area. We’re proud to introduce the individuals—and equipment—that make Griffin Fire strong.
Board of fire commissioners
Griffin Fire Department is governed by a three-member Board of Fire Commissioners. Each commissioner is elected by the public to serve a six-year, staggered term, ensuring continuity and long-term oversight. The Board provides legislative leadership and is responsible for setting department policy, establishing the fire levy rate, developing and adopting the annual budget, reviewing and approving contracts, and appointing and evaluating the Fire Chief.
The commissioners meet regularly to guide the strategic direction of the department, uphold fiscal responsibility, and ensure the services we provide align with the evolving needs of the Steamboat Island community. Their leadership plays a vital role in maintaining the strength, transparency, and accountability of our district.
The Board meets at noon on the third Thursday of each month. The meetings are open to the public. Changes to the meeting schedule and Meeting Agenda will be posted at Headquarters Station.
